City Chase Ireland proudly supports Special Olympics Ireland
Special Olympics changes lives. It's about fun, friendships and team spirit, it's about a feeling of belonging, and it's about working together. Special Olympics Ireland is first and foremost a sports organisation for people with an intellectual disability, but it provides athletes with far more than the physical benefits of sport. Special Olympics changes lives in so many different ways. Through sport, athletes develop both physically and emotionally, they make new friends, realise their dreams, and know they can fit in - Special Olympics enables them to achieve and win not only in sport but in life too.
This year is hugely significant for Special Olympics Ireland with the 2010 Special Olympics Ireland Games taking place in Limerick from 9-13th June. This will be one of the biggest and most prestigious sports events of the summer with 1,900 athletes competing in 13 sports in venues throughout Limerick and Clare. They will be accompanied by a team of 650 coaches and official delegates, 4,000 family members and supported by a team of 3,000 volunteers.
